Mariana Pickering, Chief Brand Officer + Community Director

Mariana joined the team to help lead the builder network and education and outreach to architects, engineers, and clients. As a recognized leader in Passive House training and community engagement, Pickering brings an extensive network of high-performance industry professionals to the B.PUBLIC community. She will be the first B.PUBLIC staff member based on the West Coast, with her office located in the north Seattle area.  

With over 15 years of experience at the intersection of architecture, sustainability, and education, she he has dedicated her career to making technical knowledge accessible and actionable. She holds a Master’s in Design Science from the University of Sydney and a BA in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis.

Mariana first built an architectural practice in Italy before bringing her expertise to the Rocky Mountain region in the U.S. As CEO of Emu Passive, she became a recognized leader in Passive House training, where she instructed construction professionals in adopting cutting-edge strategies for high-performance building. After exiting her company in 2024, Mariana joined the inaugural cohort of the historic Energy Communities AmeriCorps Program as a VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America), focusing on strategic leadership, environmental stewardship, and science communication—always with a commitment to driving meaningful change. In 2025 Mariana joined B.PUBLIC’s leadership team to continue to foster building excellence, expand impact, and have fun sharing great stories and knowledge.
