ZC House in Santa Cruz

The 2020 CZU Complex Fire took this family's home, and with it the workshop and tools central to one partner's work as a fine carpenter. Their rebuild became a chance to start over with intention, and in doing so, they inspired a new addition to the B.HOME Collection. Working with B.PUBLIC, the Craftsman plan was born: a 1,875 square foot, 2 bed/2 bath home with a vaulted main house, exposed ridge beam, and a detached guest suite connected by a breezeway — a layout with the character and flexibility to match a craftsman's sensibility.

Acting as their own general contractor, they brought in a team to assemble and dry in the panel system, then took over the finishing work themselves, completing the home to their taste and on their own timeline, which is exactly what a high-performance prefab system makes possible.
